Iced Coffee w/ Boba

DISCLAIMER: I did not intend on buying coffee at a boba shop. That’s just ridiculous. I went for the lavender milk tea with boba, and then just happened to also leave with a coffee based drink as well.

The iced coffee was not the best, but I don’t know what I was expecting anyway. It was strong, yet tasted like artificial coffee. And I think I drink coffee often enough that I can distinguish the taste. I also did not particularly enjoy the standard level of sweetness that was given to me. It just seemed like too much in combination with the taste of what I assume was watered down instant coffee mixed with their lactate free creamer that they also use for their milk teas.

However the actual milk tea I ordered was wonderful. It had the perfect amount of sweetness mixed in, and the flavor of the black tea stood out enough that my craving for it was satisfied, but it didn’t overwhelm the whole experience like the unfortunate coffee beverage did.

It was a lesson well learned. Not that I ordered it before, but now I know for sure not to stray from an establishment’s purpose and order something they started offering on their menu as an extra off their specialties.

The Boba Time chain in southern California will forever be one of my favorite boba spots, but that’s just it. They’re good for boba, and not iced coffee.
